Pneumatic actuators – classification of cylinders, Autoair will introduce to you.
1. Principle and classification of cylinder
Cylinder principle: Pneumatic actuators are devices that convert the pressure of compressed air into mechanical energy, such as Pneumatic cylinders and air motors. It is the Pneumatic cylinder that realizes linear motion and work; the gas motor that realizes rotary motion and work. The cylinder is the main actuator in the pneumatic transmission, which is divided into single-acting and double-acting in the basic structure. In the former, compressed air enters the Pneumatic cylinder from one end, causing the piston to move forward, while the spring force or dead weight at the other end returns the piston to its original position. The reciprocating motion of the piston of the latter cylinder is driven by compressed air. The Pneumatic cylinder is composed of Air Cylinder Kit, Pneumatic Cylinder Assembly Kits, Steel Piston Rod, Pneumatic Aluminum Tube, Chrome Piston Rod, etc.
Classification of cylinders
In the pneumatic automation system, the cylinder is also the most widely used actuator due to its relatively low cost, easy installation, simple structure, etc., and various advantages. The main classifications of cylinders are as follows
1) According to the structure, it is divided into:
A Piston type (double piston, single piston)
B Diaphragm type (flat diaphragm, rolling diaphragm)
2) According to the size, it is divided into:
Micro (bore 2.5-6mm), small (bore 8-25mm), medium cylinder (bore 32-320mm)
3) According to the installation method, it is divided into:
A Fixed
B swing
3) According to the lubrication method, it is divided into:
A Oil supply cylinder: Lubricate the moving parts such as piston and cylinder inside the cylinder.
B No oil supply to the cylinder
4) According to the driving mode, it is divided into:
A single acting
B double acting
Two: the selection and use of the cylinder
There are many types and specifications of cylinders, and a reasonable selection of cylinders can ensure the stable operation of the pneumatic system. Things to pay attention to when choosing a cylinder are as follows:
1) The main working conditions of the cylinder
Working pressure range, load requirements, working process, working environment temperature, lubrication conditions and installation methods, etc.
2) Points for selecting cylinders
A Cylinder bore
Stroke of B cylinder
C Cylinder installation method
D Cylinder intake and exhaust port duct inner diameter
