Pneumatic cylinders are components used to achieve linear motion and work. There are many types of structures and shapes, and there are many classification methods. The commonly used ones are as follows.
①According to the direction in which compressed air acts on the piston end face, it can be divided into single-acting pneumatic cylinder and double-acting pneumatic cylinder. The single-acting pneumatic cylinder only moves in one direction by pneumatic transmission, and the reset of the piston depends on spring force or gravity; the back and forth of the double-acting pneumatic cylinder piston is all completed by compressed air.
②According to the structural characteristics, it can be divided into piston pneumatic cylinder, vane pneumatic cylinder, film pneumatic cylinder, gas-liquid damping pneumatic cylinder, etc.
③According to the installation method, it can be divided into lug type pneumatic cylinder, flange type pneumatic cylinder, pivot pin type pneumatic cylinder and flange type pneumatic cylinder.
④According to the function of the pneumatic cylinder, it can be divided into ordinary pneumatic cylinder and special pneumatic cylinder. Ordinary pneumatic cylinders mainly refer to piston-type single-acting pneumatic cylinders and double-acting pneumatic cylinders; special pneumatic cylinders include gas-liquid damping pneumatic cylinders, film pneumatic cylinders, impact pneumatic cylinders, booster pneumatic cylinders, stepping pneumatic cylinders, and rotary pneumatic cylinders.
There are many types of SMC pneumatic cylinders, which can be divided into micro pneumatic cylinders, small pneumatic cylinders, medium pneumatic cylinders and large pneumatic cylinders according to the bore size.
According to the function, it can be divided into: standard pneumatic cylinder, space-saving pneumatic cylinder, pneumatic cylinder with guide rod, double acting pneumatic cylinder, rodless pneumatic cylinder, etc.
Usually, each company determines the name of the series according to its own situation, and then adds the bore/stroke/accessory type, etc. Let us take the SMC pneumatic cylinder as an example(MDBBD 32-50-M9BW):
1. MDBB stands for standard tie rod pneumatic cylinder
2. D stands for pneumatic cylinder plus magnetic ring
3. 32 represents the bore of the pneumatic cylinder, that is, the diameter
4. 50 represents the stroke of the pneumatic cylinder, that is, the length that the piston rod protrudes
5. Z represents the new model
6. M9BW stands for the induction switch on the pneumatic cylinder
If the pneumatic cylinder model starts with MDBL, MDBF, MDBG, MDBC, MDBD, and MDBT, it means that it represents different installation methods for classification:
1. L stands for axial foot installation
2. F represents the flange type on the front cover rod side
3. G stands for rear end cover side flange type
4. C stands for single earring CA
5. D stands for double earrings CB
6. T stands for central trunnion type
