Recently, the demand for Cruiser, Classic and Adventure motorcycles in our market has increased significantly. Royal Enfield currently dominates this market segment; however, JAWA and Honda Two-wheeler India have also launched their Classics on the market. After the launch of Jawa, Classic Legends will relaunch the iconic Yezdi motorcycle brand in India.
In this article, we bring you a list of new Royal Enfield, Java and Yazdi motorcycles that will be launched in the Indian market in the next 1-2 years.
After launching the new Meteor and Classic 350, Royal Enfield is now preparing a variety of new motorcycles for the Indian market. The company plans to launch a new entry-level 350cc Classic motorcycle, rumored to be the Hunter 350. The new motorcycle will be lighter than other 350cc siblings and will compete with Honda CB350RS. It will be based on the “J” platform that supports Meteor 350 and Classic 350. It is likely to be powered by the same 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, producing 20.2bhp and 27Nm of torque, and paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
Royal Enfield is also working on a new version of the scrambler for the Himalayas, which is likely to be called RE Scram 411. It will be more affordable than Adventure Brothers and is likely to be launched in early 2022. The company will make some changes to the Himalayas to give it a more road-oriented Scrambler feel. It may retain the same 411cc single-cylinder engine that powers the Himalayas. The engine can produce 24.3bhp and 32Nm of torque, and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
Royal Enfield also prepared two new 650cc motorcycles-Super Meteor and Shotgun 650. Super Meteor 650 will be located above Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. It shares styling cues with the KX concept car. Design highlights will include round headlights, large sun visors for wind protection, 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, front footrests, thicker rear fenders, round tail lights and turn indicators, and Double pipe exhaust system.
The RE Shotgun 650 will be a mass production version of the RE SG650 concept, which will be unveiled at the EICMA Motor Show in Italy in 2021. The motorcycle will retain most of the design highlights in the concept. It will be equipped with round headlamps with integrated position lights, single-seater units, dollar front forks, teardrop-shaped fuel tanks, and more. Both bicycles will be powered by a 648cc parallel twin engine that powers the Interceptor and Continental GT. The engine can produce 47bhp and 52Nm of torque. These bicycles will be equipped with a 6-speed gearbox with slippers and auxiliary clutch. ‘
With Mahindra’s support, Classic Legends will relaunch the iconic Yezdi brand with two new motorcycles. The company is testing an adventure motorcycle and a brand new Scrambler. According to reports, Scrambler is called Yezdi Roadking. The design of the Adventure bike is inspired by its biggest competitor-RE Himalayas. It has a traditional round headlight, a tall windshield, a spherical fuel tank, round rearview mirrors and split seat settings. It is expected to be powered by a 334cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine to power Jawa Perak. The engine can produce 30.64PS of power and 32.74Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Yezdi will launch a retro-style scrambler motorcycle, which is said to be called Yezdi Roadking. The model has retro design elements such as old-fashioned exhaust pipes, round LED taillights, raised front fenders and new headlight housings, and integrated tire brackets that can accommodate license plates. It is expected to be equipped with a 293cc single-cylinder engine that can produce 27.3PS of power and 27.02Nm of torque.
Java has begun testing a new cruiser motorcycle, which will be comparable to the Meteor 350. The new cruiser will adopt a retro style, with round headlights and rearview mirrors, teardrop-shaped fuel tanks and wider rear fenders. Motorcycles will provide wider and more comfortable seats. The new Java cruiser is expected to be based on the Perak platform and can be modified to accommodate cruiser-type bicycles. The new motorcycle is likely to share the engine with the Pili, which is a 334cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC device. The engine can produce 30.64PS of power and 32.74Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
